The Destruction of Jerusalem was not the result of a failure in leadership alone. It was also the result of individuals who failed to fulfill their communal responsibilities. We’ll spend a short time surveying the biblical and rabbinic texts that express this before doing a deep dive into what the legal obligations of the individual to the community are, and far “community” extends in this modern age.
