Description

What happened at Sinai and why?  Although the Torah has a lot to say, there is also a lot unknown.  In this course we will study aggadot (narrative homiletical texts) about Matan Torah, unpacking how the rabbis read this pivotal moment, and what that says about them, and us.

Teacher

Miriam Gedwiser teaches Talmud at the Ramaz Upper School and is a long-time faculty member at Drisha. She has a B.A. in the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from N.Y.U. School of Law, and studied in Midreshet Lindenbaum, the Drisha Scholar’s Circle, and the International Halakha Scholar’s Program.  Miriam writes widely on topics of Jewish and Torah interest including for The Lehrhaus, The Forward, and Project 929. She lives with her family in Teaneck, NJ.
