2018 - 2019
We were excited to be part of the local Upper West Side Celebrates Israel, most recently, Sunday, May 5, 2019.
This was an all day event! The Upper West Side’s synagogues, schools, and Jewish organizations came together for a neighborhood-wide celebration of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. The UWS Celebrates Israel is powered by the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan and the UWS Celebrates Israel Coalition and made possible by UJA-Federation.
From 1:30pm – 5:00pm, we learned about Israel with some of the neighborhood’s finest teachers and scholars from Drisha, Hadar, and Darkhei Noam:
- Dr. Sarit Kattan Gribetz, Drisha
She Built… Jerusalem: Women’s Roles in the City’s Construction from Antiquity to Now
- Talia Graff, Hadar
“Whose Zionism Is It Anyway? Historical Perspectives on Jewish Nationalism and Peoplehood”
- Community Beit Midrash
- Limmud on the street
4-5 pm, Street fair locations
The 2018 program was a great success, with over than 8000 participants, and a very high quality programs.
The expectation for 2019 did not disappoint!
