Drisha is excited to be part of the Upper West Side Celebrates Israel again in 2016. Organizations all over the upper west side will hold programs on Sunday, May 15 to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut together as a community.
Reviving Beruriah: Opportunities and Challenges in Girls Education in Israel
There are great opportunities in Israel for huge leaps forward in Jewish education for girls in ways unimaginable here. There is, however, a desire to hold onto tradition, impeding the possibility of making strides forward.

Meir Ekstein founded Yeshivat Amit Nachshon and Ulpanat Amit Noga in Beit Shemesh. He is also involved in other educational initiatives including an excellence program for Ethiopian immigrants, and programs encouraging the study of Talmud for women. He is a clinical psychologist in private practice has taught at various Yeshivot and Midrashot. He is a graduate of Yeshivat HarEtzion and Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He earned his BA and MA in Jewish history at Yeshiva University and his PhD in clinical psychology from the New School for Social Research.

New Yorkers will celebrate the rich and complex culture, history, and people of Israel at events throughout the Upper West Side sponsored by neighborhood synagogues, schools, and Jewish organizations. Convened by The JCC in Manhattan in collaboration with and funded by UJA-Federation of New York.
