Podcasts of “Strangers in a Strange Land: Immigrants and Refugees in the Book of Genesis”
What can we learn about immigrants and refugees from the experiences of the founding generations —Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob, Rachel and Leah—living in places that were not their own—Canaan, Gerar, Ber Sheva and Egypt? We will study both the Biblical text and also how medieval and classic rabbinic commentaries understood the motivations and behavior of these weak and vulnerable strangers, and of the natives who encountered them.
